The different types of Underwater Diving courses available in New Zealand

Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, there’s an underwater diving course to suit you in New Zealand. Here’s a rundown of the different types of courses on offer.

If you’ve never dived before, the best place to start is with a Discover Scuba Diving experience. This is a short introductory course that will teach you the basics of diving and give you a taste of what it’s like to explore the underwater world.

If you’re looking to get certified, the next step is the Open Water Diver course. This internationally recognised qualification will allow you to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 18 metres. The course takes around three to four days to complete and includes both classroom and in-water training.

Once you’ve got your Open Water Diver certification, you might want to take your diving to the next level with an Advanced Open Water Diver course. This course will teach you how to dive deeper (to a maximum depth of 30 metres), as well as giving you the chance to try out different types of diving, such as night diving and wreck diving.

If you’re interested in working as a professional diver, the first step is to complete a Divemaster course. This course will teach you how to lead and supervise dives, as well as giving you first aid and rescue training. Once you’ve completed the Divemaster course, you’ll be qualified to work as a dive instructor.

No matter what your level of experience, there’s an underwater diving course to suit you in New Zealand. So what are you waiting for? Get in touch with a local dive school and start your underwater adventure today!
